I decided this year to join the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk at it’s Duluth Georgia, location. As it was close to me, I took my son along with me, and he carried his own camera, a little Kodak Zi8. We met up with around 25 other photographers in the Duluth town square at 10am on October 5, and shortly after, began the photowalk.
While a large majority of the group headed up Main Street, shooting storefronts, Jonathan and I stayed back to the Emergency Workers Memorial and took photos of the monument, and the art exhibit that was in the field next to it.
About the time that we finished taking the photos around the art exhibit, the others had made it back down to the fountain near the starting point. Jonathan and I moved over to the End Alzheimer’s display area, and took photos of the “flower windmills” that they had placed in the park area.
After we finished there, we moved towards to Duluth City Hall building, where the rest of the group was starting to assemble. We took a few more photos along the way, then Jonathan spotted the playground. Since some of the rest of the photographers were still working there way over, I let him play on the playground for a minute, then we joined up with the others for a quick photo.
After the photo, we walked down to the old Duluth jail and into the cemetery. We took a few photos along the way, and ended up at the old church. Afterwards, we walked back to the starting point, and ate lunch with the photographers that stayed.
Ultimately, we took quite a few photos, and decided to keep 36 of them – 14 from Jonathan, and 22 from me. The one below is the one that I entered in the photo contest, and it is the one that was selected as the best of the ones that were taken at Duluth, and was entered into the WWPW contest : http://worldwidephotowalk.com/walk/duluth-ga-united-states-downtown-and-cemetery/
Unfortunately, it did not win the overall WWPW contest, as that went to Hong Kong: http://worldwidephotowalk.com/
The rest of my photos – and the ones that my son took are on my Flickr account here:
