I went down to Baton Rouge last Thursday for work, but took a slightly earlier flight that put me there at 4pm. Having a few hours free, I walked around the Capital City area, on River Street, and on the banks of the Mississippi. It was easy to get some good photos there, and I used the afternoon daylight to figure out where I wanted to shoot around sunset.
I went back and got some dinner, then headed back out to shoot some more photos. I ran into another photographer that was shooting basically the same shots that I was, except he had brought out some very nice equipment. All I had carried was my D600, Dolica tripod, and my Nikon 50mm and Tamron 17-35mm, along with a CPL and a couple of ND filters.
Overall, I got about 80 shots that were pretty good, and I chose about 40 of them for here. I’ll probably be headed back to Baton Rouge in the coming weeks, and will expand the areas that I shoot in.
