Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8 DX

I preface every review with the same disclosure. I am not a professional. I do not shoot test charts. I do not try every lens with every camera. All opinions are my own, and are only based upon my own experiences with the gear. I haven’t had a ton of gear, or all of the expensive gear.  I won’t list every specification or test for every specification. My review is not meant for professionals – if you are a professional, you shouldn’t need a review from an amateur. The information below is simply my own observations while doing normal photography, and is for other car enthusiasts and amateurs like myself.

This review will be quite short. If you shoot Nikon DX, and you want a zoom, this is the one that you have to get. It is one of my favorites, and the only downsides are the cost and the weight. It’s not light – either on your arms or your wallet. It is great though, in that it is fast glass, and uses 77mm filters. With this one lens, you can shoot almost any car, in any place, and in any conditions.

It is AF-S, so you can manually focus if needed at any time. It’s AF is very fast though, and has never failed me. It is built to take any abuse you might throw at it, and it has a metal mount.

Get it, and you won’t regret it. It’s worth every penny.
